Your questions about the intercom system answered
Background
Since the hotel ended its operation a while ago in 2021, the Owners Corporation prepared a Long Term Maintenance Plan.
This plan included essential items needed to bring our building to standard.
They include the Intercom system and associated security upgrades to the elevators.

Safety and security issues were identified
Having listened to investors and owners, the (then) Committee identified serious risks associated with the absence of the intercom system and basic security.
These included:
  • the inability for emergency services such as ambulance to access our building during an emergency involving one of our residents (this breach needed to be addressed)
  • strangers able to access all floors in our building at any time which exposed all residents to safety issues and owners to property damage.

The Owners Corporation took action
On 26 April 2023, the Committee unanimously approved the installation of the intercom system after five months of comprehensive investigations and diligence.
This has not affected our savings towards the elevator upgrades. because these items had previously been identified and accounted for in our Long Term Maintenance Plan.
